Will Sid Meier's Pirates! Run On The HP Mini 2140?

Hey, I’m having that same exact problem. I *think* it’ll run maybe on the lowest detail setting but I’m still not sure. Our computer’s (HP Mini) graphics card isn’t really designed for running games and such but I think this one might work. The game requires Nvidia GeForce 3 or Radeon 8500 or higher.
Intel GMA 950 (Our graphics cards) specs:
400Mhz of Core frequency
1.6 gigapixels per second
10.9.GB/ second = Memory Bandwith
And 2.0 Pixel Shader support.
I believe Nvidia GeForce 3 works well with games released around 2001-2006.. The original Sid Meier’s Pirates! game was released in 1987, so it will defiantly work. But I assume you’re talking about the one released in 2004. My conclusion is; it will probably work… maybe on the lowest detail setting, but still probably work. I’m going to get the game soon anyways, so I’ll tell you if it works so you don’t have to waste your money (;.
EDIT: i actually didn’t get the game.. i saw zoo tycoon 2 there and just had to get it… haha sorry
Hi, I dnt know if you’ve figured it out by urself already, but just in case there are other people out there wondering, here’s what I found:
The HP mini 2140 can run the game perfectly, if you check the specs vis-a-vis the minimum requirements of Pirates!, you’ll find that it is more than capable of running the game…

I did find a solution. I plugged an old computer monitor into my VGA port and that's how I was able to tell it worked just fine. THe game is playable only on standard resolutions: 800 and 1280. THen again, by ding that, you may as well be playing on a pc, its just lost its portability. I can't play the game on the go, which is fine because its really distracting and addicting, so I just use it to kill time whenever I'm bored at home. Hope that helps! And now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sail the 7 seas!!! ARRRgGGHHHH!!!!
Hang on, the site completely deleted my “BUT” section heheh that’s what I get for using arrows and theatrics. ANyway, what I was saying was that while it’s perfectly capable of running it, it runs into a problem with the 2140′s resolution. THe game was released back in 2004, that’s 6 years ago, which is a century ago if you think about how quickly technology evolves. the 2140 doesn’t operate on a standard resolution, and on top of that, it’s only got 1 resolution option. It’s the price we pay for having the 2140′s compact-ness (is that a real word?)
