What is the best way to preserve my netbook's battery life?

I have a netbook (Samsung N220 Plus) as well as a battery hold up has decreased noticeably given we initial got it. we have been unplugging it from a mains, vouchsafing a battery dull itself, charging it until full as well as afterwards unplugging it again. Is this a most appropriate approach to safety battery hold up or is it improved to leave it switched upon when possible? Thanks.

There are 4 suggestions to question “What is the best way to preserve my netbook's battery life?”

  1. It’s better to let the mains power the netbook and remove the battery. Only use the battery when you are on the move or whilst doing some very important work on it as obviously a loss of power could be destructive so in those cases you will want to be charging the battery whilst you are using the netbook

  2. lol sorry to say but you have is bass ackwards :3

With lithium ion batteries its best to do partial discharges and partial charges. Full > dead > full is actually bad for them. And im not sure how it works on a netbook, but if your sitting at home and your battery is full, you should take out the battery(if u can) and just run on ac power. Leaving the battery in constantly charging and getting warm from the computer also is bad for battery life.

Also if you are going to store the battery for long periods of time(either in the computer and just not turn it on) or out of the computer, its best to have it somewhere between 40-70% charged.

  3. There should be some options near the task bar that let you choose what kind of settings you’d like.
Performance, Power Saving, or Balanced are normally the three options.

Another effecitive way is to make sure your screen saver is at a good time (every 15mins or so, incase you go idle).
I believe the method you have right now is the better one, rather then having it plugged in all the time, but that would also depend if the laptop could change automatically from using DC, or AC power.

Also, try to avoid anything that eats up more, things like videos, or games. Not that this is easy, seeing as you need the netbook to do that. But keep it to a minimal. :)

  4. letting battery goes under 7% of charge is dangerous. in fact BATTERY life decreases after every use. if u can, use ur net-book with its battery out. i mean if u Access to electricity .
this will preserve ur battery life
