The Intel Classmate PC has Intel GMS915 integrated graphics with 8MB shared memory. There you should find a link called "Run Intel Driver Update Utility". After doing this, there should be an option to select an OS. Select Linux & you’ll be good to go.
Ubuntu usually has a menu entry called System Settings. Have you checked for an utility that will let you change the resolution and install/remove the video card driver?
