just paid for a samsung n220 netbook. a ostensible to have twelve hours battery life. i’ve been upon it for about 2 hours right away as well as a revelation me i’ve got only over 2 hours left! what in a ruin is this about? all i’ve been you do is regulating facebook as well as examination things upon youtube. certainly there’s not ostensible to be such a extreme disproportion in between a battery hold up if a left alone as well as simple usage?

You must remember one thing. When manufacturer’s advertise their products as having certain capabilities, these figures they advertise are reached using ideal conditions for their testing. For example, you say that Samsung advertised a 12 hour battery life. I’d bet they had only the operating system running for this test. No other files open, no internet connection where there may be two or three browsers open, no photo files open…get my drift? Unless you know exactly how the product claims were tested, "your results may vary". Ever heard that line before? If they just had a fully charged battery and turned the computer on and brought up the desktop and left it set there and run until the battery was drained, the battery may well have lasted for 12 hours, but that’s not the way anyone runs their computer. We usually have dozens of programs that startup when the computer is powered on. We may have several files opened and running. We may have a couple of browsers open along with a social network or two. Then we may also have our virus protection running. All of this makes the computer work harder and the battery will drain more quickly. The best thing to do to research a product you’re thinking of buying, is to do a search of the "customer reviews" of the product. You’ll find out real quick who’s satisfied and who isn’t with the product. Make sure you follow the manufacturers’ instructions for using the battery. The newer Lithium-ion batteries are much better than the older Nickel Cadmium batteries. The
"L-ion" batteries do not take a memory set when they’re re-charged before being fully discharged. They can be re-charged at any time with no problems. Hope this will help to explain why you have to research whatever product you’re considering for purchase. The customers who review the product they spent their hard earned money on, will tell you the facts about whether they are satisfied with the product or not. You could also contact Samsung and express your dissatisfaction about this situation. It’s possible they’ll send another battery in case your battery is bad. Good luck!
Yeah, usually the battery life presented is just standby time. You could probably get more usage out if it, but since you’re on the internet it’ll use more power just to connect to the internet. You have to run ram, graphics card, hard drive, and the motherboard to start. I’d say 2 hours is about right.
It says on the Samsung site "*Battery life based on BatteryMark test scores that will vary based on configuration"
But having said that, there’s a big difference between the 2 hours you’ve been getting and the 12 hours Samsung claim. Perhaps you have a faulty battery? Your laptop will still be under guarantee since it’s new, so I’d contact Samung and tell them about the problem and ask if they will give you a replacement battery
