Sounds like Ubuntu doesn’t have the correct drivers installed for your WiFi to work. I would start with this site which might help you fix this problem.

Ask this question in Ubuntu Forums, it is probably because of a missing driver, they can provide one. Not sure if it will work but try installing Windows and changing WiFi settings there, then boot Ubuntu again.
