i have an intel classmate
+laptop. ( the tiny netbook with no dvd or cd rom) as well as i wish to format it given it has the virus. though given it has no dvd rom or formatting hoop i dont know how. as well as restoring it does NOT mislay viruses!

just install AVG free and Malwarebytes to scan your computer to get rid of the virus
If restoring it doesn’t remove them (Unlikely, but hey, you say so) you can either take out the hard drive and plug it into another computer and reinstall from there (You will need the disc that came with the OS)
Or, if you don’t have the aforementioned disc, you will have to download a linux distro and install it via usb stick (Ubuntu netbook remix, Lubuntu, Chrunchbang etc)
You saying it does not have a USB port for an external DVD/CD drive?

It has this phrase "SD Card Reader; documentation says that you can boot the system off an SD card, or a standard USB thumbdrive". But later on it never mentions a USB port so why is the documentation talking about booting from a standard USB thumbdrive?
Then I guess you can boot off the SD card reader. So grab the XP product key and write it down and see if you can borrow an XP disk (same XP Edition) and try copying it to a SD card and plugging it in. And use your XP product key, whoever you borrow the disk from will probably want some assurance that you will not use their product key.
I could use one of these at the old cabin.
