With the Intel GMA 3150 you should be able to do all the things you wanted to, but probably only 1 at a time. The atom is not very good for multi-tasking at a reasonable speed.

Get an external usb dvd-rom. Most places have them for under $40 and they use power right from the computer so there’s no need to be next to a power outlet.
These netbooks don’t have an internal DVD-ROM, so any movies you want to watch will have to be downloaded from the internet. You can always plug an external DVD player via a usb port, but that’s a hassle if you want portability. This Asus netbook would be fine for the internet and emails, but that’s about all. Sorry I couldn’t give you a better report, but I don’t believe you’d find this computer very handy for the movie part of your requirement, unless you download or strictly watch movies online.
